@startoverstrategy: What do you do when you’ve applied for job after job… …and no one is calling you back? For many divorced former tradwives, this is the reality. You’re suddenly the breadwinner. You may not have recent work experience. On paper, you don’t look like the strongest candidate. So what do you do? One option is to keep applying. Another option is to stop waiting to be chosen. That’s why I started a service-based business. Not because I thought I was an entrepreneur. Not because I wanted to work 100-hour weeks or take out huge loans. But because I realized something: Many service businesses can be started with very little money, using skills you already have. And if your dream job comes along later? Great. You can pivot. Building a business doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing decision. Sometimes it’s simply the fastest way to create income while you’re rebuilding your life. If you’re waiting for someone else to give you an opportunity, this is your reminder: You may be able to create one for yourself. Sometimes the most important person who chooses you…is you. #Start#StartABusinessA#MakeALivingAfterDivorcee#FormerTradwifen#WomenRebuildingiceBusiness

The gig economy can be predatory, but it can put some much needed cash in your pocket quickly. It took a few weeks to finally get clients, but Rover has been a good gig for me. I tried DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Spark. It took weeks to get approved by Spark, but only a day or two for Uber, and DoorDash. I have a Jeep so the gas prices made food delivery unsustainable for me. And yes, providing a service is a great idea as well.
