At BEST this is murder in the second degree, at worst the stand your ground laws in Memphis should apply. The issue is she shot him from behind which is difficult, but if a white man did the same thing to protect his child, he’d be given a medal

Dropping first degree charges on her is absolutely wild. I know she messed up but not in a first degree way, dang. And before I get jumped in comments, I'm not saying she was completely in the wrong, I'm saying she was a parent in a rough spot who made a mistake.

do I think this was murder based on the information that I have gathered so far yes. But I also don’t think it’s completely unreasonable for a parent to have reacted in such a way even as the man was fleeing. And the head in the moment a strange man, you don’t know under your child’s bed. So based on the information I have at this point I feel like guilty would be the correct finding but I also don’t think there should be any jail time based off of the information I have at this time

That’s the only crime…. she shot him in the back of the head which means he was fleeing. I hope she doesn’t serve any time for this hopefully she has a good lawyer

If she had shot him inside the house, ok. The issue is she shot him while he was fleeing and already outside. Her mental state is understandable and the consequences of his actions are also understandable.

morally she was valid imo. legally though... unfortunately I dont think shes getting away with anything. but all i know is that man had no reason to be there. at the very least, i aint ever seen a 13 year old look older than 15 and what the hell is he doing home alone with a child

Back of the head outside 😭. Praying for manslaughter at most because it was not premeditated, there was a grown stranger to her in her house in the middle of the night where her young daughter was 😭. There wasn’t time to get down to the nitty gritty. Whole time I thought this happened with him under the bed.
