@outsidethelinesmom: How do you think kids who had never taken a test before in their lives would perform on a standardized test? #homeschool #homeschoollife #standardizedtesting #educate #gifted
Unfortunately public schools see a lot of failed home schooled kids.

5th grade and they've never been tested in their lives? You're setting them up for a hard life.

If you actually taught them I’m betting they did well. Many parents are far from equipped to teach.

Honest question: testing aside, how are you preparing them socially? As someone who has hired and managed for decades, social skills are just as important as competency.

White, middle to upper middle class kids that aren’t homeless and hungry with access to experiences and background knowledge I’m guessing? They probably did well…

I’m sure they did great. They are ill prepared for the world but I’m sure they can pass bare minimum state standards

I grew up in Iowa. The Iowa test people used us to test their tests so we did them every year! So no test anxieties at all.

doesn't matter in real life nothing is standardized. the day they need to start a real job and work with people who are far from being close to a standardized test, they will suffer... a lot! Poor kids

Do you not want your kids to go to college or trade school? Test will be required. Also a lot of jobs require training that require quizzes or a test.

We can answer this easily with one question.
Approximately how old is the Earth?

Home schooled kids probably do well, but it's not because of public schools, it's because the parents take interest in what they do, public school kids that parents help and take interest also do really good, my youngest son was Validictorian of his senior class.. But public schools have the capability of teaching poor children who might not otherwise do good the opportunity to, and access to a good education. I don't like homeschooling, I like when parents take interest and make all public schools better.

those would be easy years to teach children. I wonder how many people are prepared to teach difficult subjects when the children get into High School and start taking difficult subjects like trigonometry or want to learn a foreign language
