Bro, this is what most likely happened: Argentina displayed a Falkland Islands poster during the semifinal. After that, it became a huge issue in England, and even in the US an official secretary was questioned about it by the media. Overall, the US and England allegedly put pressure on FIFA to ban Argentina from the final, threatening consequences for FIFA's leadership. However, since all the tickets for the final had already been sold, FIFA had to go ahead with the match. So, according to this theory, FIFA gave Argentina two choices: either they would be banned from participating in the next two World Cups (2030 and 2034), or they would let Spain win this World Cup. Messi knew it was his last World Cup, but he didn't want Argentina to be banned from the next two tournaments just because of his final chance. That's why everyone in the locker room was reportedly sad and crying. They had been playing the entire tournament for Messi, yet they already knew they were going to lose the final. According to the same theory, that's also why none of the Argentina players' family members came to watch the match.
