Kevin Feige has confirmed that the movie takes place directly before Avengers: Doomsday, and the reported post-credit scene might explain why Peter Parker is absent from the next Avengers film. In the film Ned has built a Spider-Man tracker in the hope of learning his secret identity. But in the post-credit scene, the tracker sends Ned a notification revealing that Spider-Man is no longer on Earth. He's somewhere in space, but his exact location is unknown. This might explain why Tom Holland was missing from the Doomsday cast announcement and even the latest plot leaks barely mention Spider-Man so Peter could be somewhere else in the multiverse. Earlier leaks claimed Brand New Day would end with Peter being resurrected by the symbiote, recreating the iconic Kraven's Last Hunt comic cover. That ending has apparently been scrapped in favour of this new scene, which would leave Peter unaccounted for heading into Doomsday and Secret Wars. If Tom Holland is being saved for Secret Wars, there's a strong comic precedent. In the original run, Spider-Man was one of the last heroes standing on Battleworld. Peter is also reportedly able to resist Jean Grey's mind-hopping abilities in Brand New Day. So if Doom really does reshape reality and brainwash the Avengers into accepting his new world order, Peter might be one of the few who realises what's happened.
