Randomly felt like setting up the camera and recording My Dream Valley during a solo practice session last night, and honestly, the tune has just been looping in my head ever since. This hornpipe is heavily inspired by Inveraray & District PB vibe, using Andrew Douglas’s solid arrangement, plus watching guys like Alasdair Henderson and Cameron Drummond play on Youtube. Absolute top-tier musicians who set the bar high. This is also the exact tune we’re bringing out for my band’s @sjapb “Reflection” medley set this year. Honestly, I couldn’t be prouder of all the band members and everything they’ve put into it, which makes playing this even more special for me. Not gonna lie, every single time I play this tune, it just hits different. It gets a bit emotional and nostalgic, but in the best way possible, it gives me this fresh burst of energy and hunger to keep improving. It’s a quiet reminder that sometimes, it’s really not wrong to just let yourself dream big. At the end of the day, in this piping and pipe band journey, you’ve just gotta keep pushing.
