@henryfudgeofficial: Argentina’s economy explained. Why was Argentina richer than France and Germany in 1913? Why has the Argentine peso collapsed so many times? Why is Javier Milei carrying a chainsaw? And can his economic reforms finally end Argentina’s century-long cycle of inflation, currency crashes and sovereign defaults? The answer is more complicated than either his supporters or his critics usually admit. This is the history of Argentina’s economy—from British capital and the Pampas, through hyperinflation and repeated defaults, to Milei’s biggest gamble yet: stabilising the country by asking its poorest citizens to bear the heaviest adjustment in the hope that this time the cycle finally breaks. Buckle up. This one’s a deep dive. #argentina #javiermilei #economics #macroeconomics #inequality
As a Brazilian, I applaud Argentina’s speedrun into becoming the first 4th world country.

Elon Musk was trying to do something similar to Milei through DOGE but it didn’t work. In reality the Heritage Foundation and its members are behind this concept. Argentina is the guinea pig

Are you saying an anarcho capitalist will simply allow corporations to run rampant and steal a nation's wealth while the working class languish?!?! Noooooooo never. Who could've saw this coming?

So essentially Milei’s plan is to fully rely on a setup that is fragile as glass?

Its amazing how much debt the UK had to take on to fight fascism while countries like America made enormous profits selling arms to whichever side could pay the most..

thank you for being thorough with your analysis and context. Libertarians always give talking points about lowering inflation while disregarding the history and effects of the general people.

Argentina oil production has improved by like 50% compared to 2020 before Mileil came to power and it improved at a similar rate under him, so it might not actually have anything to do with him, especially since oil production takes way too long to set up for it to be his doing anyways

This sounds too familiar to us in Nigeria. The government has withdrawn all subsidies and devalue the current every few years thereby destroying the value of our savings and pensions and still continue to borrow massively to fund recurrent expenditure. Ultimately the ordinary people suffer while the elites take the benefits.
