I genuinely can’t make sense of what she means by ‘sexualizing’. Even putting aside gender, what in that story was sexual? Is it just… acknowledging anything at all about your sex? Is the public acknowledgement that some people have vaginas or penises ‘sexual’? Is this why the right has been up in arms about sex education? Because it just acknowledges that people have sexes? I’m so confused.

I don’t know why no one ever just answers this honestly? Like you can say, “gender is a social construct with many cultures recognizing multiple genders. Biological sex in humans is typically categorized into two major categories by pairing of X and/or Y chromosomes, with several notable variations that fall outside of the binary” Like that’s a scientific answer that recognizes biological sex and sociological gender that you shouldn’t be afraid to say. The way I would’ve said exactly that. Over and over again until she stopped friggen asking.

Yeah, as a kid who was about 6 or 7, I asked my friend "When do we get our penises?" so yeah, I think it'd be beneficial to a child who feels like a freak to know they're not alone.
