Dry weddings are perfectly fine. With that being said wedding culture is partying. This isn’t new. It isn’t some fancy thing brides just invented. You can’t have cocktail hour without cocktails. To me a dry wedding is like a business luncheon. If you want a dry wedding, again perfectly fine, it should be a brunch or just a punch and dessert party. Even better host a brunch and spend the money on a fancy dinner for the 2 newly weds.

As a recovering alcoholic, it is no one's job to make sure I dont drink . I can have a glass in my hand and be able to put it down. Changing your whole day for 3 people is insane , and the people who live a "dry" or sober life , will yes go home early, and wont order the Alcohol anyway

My older sister had a dry wedding, but it was at a country club that had a bar outside, so people would disappear to go grab some drinks and I honestly think my sister was smart for that

I had a dry wedding, but the ENTIRE shindig was 4 hours long. Wedding started at 11, lunch started at 11:45, we played a few reception games, we had the send-off at 4. I am a firm believer that if you have a dry wedding, you need to plan for a short wedding.

This is definitely cultural, bc (most) Muslim weddings are dry, but they up the entertainment and music to make up for it. The religious Christian dry ones usually have very boring and sad taste in music/entertainment. They feel like those puritan colonies where they’d call you a witch for liking music.
