He ﷺ said: إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَبْدَلَكُمْ بِهِمَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا: يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى وَيَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ “Allah has substituted for them something better than them: the day of sacrifice and the day of the breaking of the fast.” — Sunan Abi Dawud 1134 · Sahih And he ﷺ said: مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” — Sunan Abi Dawud 4031 · Hasan Sahih Among the qualities of the servants of the Most Merciful: وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا كِرَامًا “And those who do not witness falsehood, and when they pass by ill speech, they pass by with dignity.” (Qur’an 25:72) Abu al-‘Aliyah, Tawus, Ibn Sirin and others said this falsehood is the festivals of the polytheists.
