@oliver.henry.w: I knew the US pays much better salaries than what we get but I didn’t know it was this much of a difference. US salaries seem to be higher in every single job compared to its EU equivalent.
That’s only buckees the basic pay in Texas is 7:50

You’ve got to put it into perspective. They don’t have free healthcare, they pay for health insurance, often have high deductibles even after they’re insured, and in many states they also pay state income tax on top of federal tax. The cost of living is high in a lot of places, and the US dollar is weaker than the British pound. So while $20 an hour sounds good, it’s only about £15 an hour before you factor in all those extra costs. Once you do, it’s probably not far off what an average worker in the UK takes home in terms of overall purchasing power.

$20 is around £15, so £2.72 more then the uk minimum wage. With a much higher cost of living. They’re not better off.

Really depends by state as well as business. Plenty of places in rural south pay just $7.25/hour for example

all this debate about us Healthcare. all you have to do is google it, what do you pay in taxes in the us, and what do you pay in the uk. how much does hc cost in the us? if you are poor in the us you have medicaid, and on top of that 99% of people without insurance never pay the hospital bills. The US government doesn't run anything good, red or blue, we really dont want to put them in charge of our Healthcare. what we need is to fix all the greed and fraud in the insurance to hospital relationship

It’s not the same as a little petrol station in the UK though. It is essentially a supermarket. The stores are also often in the middle of nowhere and the price of goods are higher
