I 100% agree, and apparently I own the same 20 year old! I just recently threatened to cancel the cell phone, drop the car insurance, and put a for sale sign on that truck! Try me!!

We have been adding things on to what our son has to pay monthly. He now has a car payment to us, pays his insurance on the car, pays part of the cell phone bill. Next we will add on some money for electric and gas. Not a huge amount but enough that he learns to budget. After that if he isn't on his own by a certain point in time he will start paying some rent.

My oldest daughter tried this, but when I talking abt moving her auto loan to her name, register her car and put her as the named insured on her auto policy she changed her tune real quick. Don't pull that shit with me.

I had an argument with my almost 18yr old because he “has it all figured out” to get an apartment after his bday… sir, you don’t even pay your own phone bill and complain your car insurance stretches you too thin.

My 20 yr old lives in his own house, pays his own rest and utilities and buys his household items and food, though he eats at my house several times a week. BUT we still pay his phone bill, he uses all our streaming services, and we still pay his pickup insurance and he’s on our health insurance. So he’s halfway there.
