@merveindubai: Nothing teaches you the value of public transport faster than watching a Japanese taxi meter in real time. After landing in Osaka, we skipped the metro. Not because we were exhausted (thank you, Emirates Business Class ), but because it was Ferdi's first time in Japan. We had two kids, two suitcases, and I still remembered how confusing the metro can be with all the walking, transfers, and stairs. Then the taxi meter started climbing... 19,200... 22,000... At that point, I wasn't even sure how much it was in dollars, so l quietly opened Google. A 40 km ride from Kansai Airport to our hotel ended up costing around $150, including tolls. Now I finally understand every single reel of people dragging giant suitcases through Japan's metro. Would I still take the taxi with kids and luggage? Honestly... probably yes. But next time, at least I'll know what I'm signing up for. What's the most you've ever paid for an airport taxi?
