Get a scooter, meet the real locals, make connections so you can get invited to the local parties and events, get the local discounts or free entrance. Once you immerse yourself in low season and make friends with the long term people, you will fall in love.

I went in April, and ran away as fast as I could. I was a tourist, but just didn't feel any community vibe. I didn't give it a chance, cancelled my hotel early, and went to Playa del Carmen. Still touristy, but found people that made me their friends.

I found that the state is more geared towards tourism. I also wanted to be in a spiritual environment. I’m on the other side of Quintana Roo. Bacalar is less over run. I am residing in an agricultural area but I am looking for our indigenous community here. Maybe they’re more prevalent in Campeche. Idk 🤷🏻♀️if you find them tell me 😂
