I don’t like lupita because she played that awful role in 12 years a slave, and I don’t think she’s that good of an actress. It was BS how the lead roles didn’t go to Black Americans. Having said that, she’s the same amount of pretty as the other “Helen of Troys”. I personally would have casted Taylor Page because she’s more stunning and lupita is like “safe” pretty. I also feel like she caters to a certain set of yt men who would say “I don’t like black girls”, then date black Africans because they are “exotic”

All I am going to say is that live action Moana understood the assignment. When they told their fictional story steeped in Polynesian culture and heritage, they hired Polynesian actors to represent their Polynesian culture and heritage, thus preserving the authenticity of story. Same people who preach representation is important in movies and the same people who criticized Gods of Egypt for race swapping and not having Egyptian actors to play the gods are suddenly ok with no Greek representation of a movie about a Greek story that has been a part of Greek culture for over 2500 years because it is just “fiction” but no one is ready for that conversation about hypocrisy.
