theres a theory that humans were not conscious throughout civilized history and then after the bronze age collapse something happened which ignited and furthered human consciousness. Its based in the observation of the evolution of expression and how people wrote or depicted art, that at one point humans actually communicated with gods or spirits or some higher form of intelligence (not aliens) and then for some reason they went silent and caused the expansion of critical thinking. They felt betrayed and abandoned by whatever they had previously communed with and it led to the bronze age collapse.
