NOT want me to be here! After everything that had happened the night before and just an hour and a half of sleep, I somehow had to wake up. And trust me, I'm the kind of person who needs 20 alarms. The guy sleeping next to me woke me up, looking confused, saying something was ringing. I still don't know if he was making it up or not, but he was really kind haha. I dragged myself out of bed. The guides showed up five minutes late and kept insisting we shouldn't go. They were convinced we wouldn't see anything and, honestly, they seemed even sleepier than the rest of us. They do this almost every day… In the end, we decided to go anyway, with one warning: we'd have to move fast. Sunrise doesn't wait for anyone. We were hiking so quickly that two people gave up after just ten minutes, while I was doing everything I could to convince my brain and my legs to work together. I was completely exhausted. We were only 2 left. When we reached the summit, the guide were still trying to get us to turn back. We couldn't even see a meter in front of us. We begged him to wait until the very last possible moment. Five minutes after deadline, the first ray of light broke through the clouds. Then another... By that point, I wasn't even thinking about what the guides were saying anymore. It was pure magic ❤️🙏 #guatemala #acatenango #volcandefuego🌋
