I wouldn't look back. The whole 'to look back is to love' is contradictory. It was a test of love and trust. Do you love that person enough to trust they'd follow you? To look back is to doubt their love for you.

Your not just not hearing their footsteps. Your h3aring them beg, scream, and wail at you to turn around, your hearing thousands of years of pain in voice as they beg you ti turn around and look at them, your hearing them scream in pain calling you names about not being able to look at them. (Ps I use them because Eurydice isnt a female for everyone, this should be blatantly obvious.)

id plan on not looking back and just crouch when we finally reach the end far out and wait for them to approach me caused by the fear of what the gods could do.. but ik i wouldn’t even last much long

Of course you'd look back! You'd help her up if she had fallen, needed you or was lost. An Orpheus that doesn't look back, sadly, wouldn't be leading Eurydice out of the underworld in the first place

man😢 i'm such a simp, If I cant heard my Eurydice footstep following me, I would forget all the rules and turn around immediately, I will be that kind of orpheus who would keep going back to underworld a thousand times and yet still make the same mistake😓

Well I’ve never been able to walk through somewhere I feel unsafe without looking back at the loved one walking behind me, so I dont imagine I could manage it in the literal underworld

I think looking back or not is just a matter of self control thou. Why r we equating love with losing self control? You can devastatingly love someone to the point of devising and following through a plan of retrieving them from the underworld no? Like looking back can only sooth your emotion and harm your loved one’s chance of living again. Wouldn’t you have that fear in mind before looking back? Thinking about what is best for that person, not you?
