Lol it’s about the framing and narrative. No one cares about a character doing problematic things (torture, genocide, whatever) but if the narrative doesn’t punish certain traits or actions it isn’t satisfying for the audience, because we’re just watching someone get away with committing horrific acts, and in worse cases the media unintentionally glamorises/justifies these traits. In Rudys case we watch him live his new life and develop from a shut-in into a better person, but his deviant sexual behaviour isn’t really addressed and isn’t framed as abhorrent by the narrative, it’s even used as comedy in certain instances, which is the exact OPPOSITE of what it should be trying to accomplish. That’s why people say diddy tensei they just don’t understand their issues are with the narrative/framing of the story itself.

they'll consume monster, aot, berserk, code geass, fate, but moshuko tensei is apparently too far?? i dont even like mt but this an insane double standard. also pick aot for exemple, the framing of the story isnt "the rumbling is hecking bad n shiee" giving you a forward moral lesson. so whats the excuse now? ALOT of people even within the show and outside support the genocide of billions of people and its left as "morally ambiguious".

A lot of people misunderstand Mushoku Tensei because they judge its world only by modern morality. The story takes place in a medieval style fantasy world where society, laws, and values are different from ours. In medieval time where Mt obviously plays, things like affairs, multiple partners, and relationships that are unacceptable today existed and were often viewed totally normal by those societies which in Mt are normal and not immoral. So u guys puttin ur modern morality into a medieval themed world is not logical and u just Hate to hate. This does not mean those actions are good or should be defended (which i dont defend). It means that comparing a fictional medieval world directly to todays standards is not logical. You cannot expect a society with completely different rules and beliefs to follow the exact same morality as the modern world. Mushoku Tensei is not saying Rudeus flaws should be accepted. It shows a flawed person in a flawed world who has to recognize his mistakes and try to become better. Understanding the context and liking the story is not the same as approving his actions which most of Mt haters translate to Mt fans who protect the char, development and show approve his actions. No they dont. And Rudeus does acknowledge his mistakes and has consequences. Many people say that Rudeus never faces consequences, but they often only see consequences that fit their fantasies for punishment by being beaten, humiliated, imprisoned, or killed. However, consequences can also be internal which he has. Rudeus carries the trauma, guilt, insecurity, and emotional damage from his past life. He has to face his own flaws and the person he used to be trying to get better where he struggels but keeps going. And now i want the haters to try again. And before u say "he comes from the modern world tho" In this case rudeus is the alien forced to adapt to the new cultures and values as of the Moralities of the world he is now in so what he can consider normal will no longer be.
