This is one of the best explanations as a victim of an avoidant that I have ever heard. Because it explains exactly the experience as the discard and also doesn’t demonize the avoidant.

Explain this to me. My daughter talked to a guy for 4 years. The first year was long distance and he used that. Then he would travel into town a lot and visit his friends for a month or a few weeks and only see her a couple times. He kept telling her in the future. Then he would actually try and when they were going good he would back out. During those 4 years she gave him his space but he didn’t want it then he did. He would always come back with in a month. So she finally had enough and started dating someone else. He blocked her on everything but still tried to call her for almost a year but she wouldn’t pick up because she had a boyfriend. Then after a year he meets a girl and within 2 months he’s posting her and it’s his GF. He never dated my daughter because he had a long distance job where he would travel a lot. So was he ever an avoidant?
