people saying it's bc will has been through so much but even before he disappeared jonathan was up cooking breakfast and she was scolding him for not getting will up in time and taking an extra shift when he was trying to help. context clues shows she put way more pressure/expectations on jonathan vs will.

Joyce's behavior made more sense in season 1 because her other son was missing and no one believed her that he was still alive, but in Season 5, she completely forgot that Jonathan was her son too. Last season’s writing is garbage. 😭
