i thought my teens would be the worst years of my life, but my twenties have been even worse, at least emotionally. i mean, i keep trying, but nothing’s really been working out and i’m the loneliest i’ve ever been. i really hope my 30s will be better.

Your 30’s are like your 20’s but you’re over what other people think. The judgement you put on yourself shrinks, cause you’ve hit the fake ‘you should have your shit together by this milestone’ and passed it. 30’s are the best, I hope the 40’s are even better somehow!

39 now and it’s not been easy but it’s true whatever you’re fearing starts happening and you… survive. It’s quite freeing. Meanwhile I’ve watched friends settle for terrible partners because they ‘didn’t want to be 30 and single’ and you couldn’t pay me to have their lives

I’ve come to realise “getting your shit together” doesn’t exist anyway. you could be 30 and hit the expected life milestones of finding a partner, buying a house, having a great career and you could still lose any one or all of those things at some point anyway, or hold on to those things but still not feel happy! a scary but freeing thought
