I wish there were more teachers like you. Some that are patient and understanding. My son has ADHD and the amount of stress he has and him not being understood is unreal. Quick to want to medicate or judge and label. “Problem child” He loves school but he has high emotions and feels deeply. Please be kind and love them. They need to be heard and felt valued.

as an adult looking back thanks for acknowledging those kids in 5th grade my mom died & my family fell apart.. In high-school I spent nights taking care of my sister's 2 little boys while she worked I would occasionally fall asleep in class and got disciplined every time was never asked why

I have a rule when I get a new class, I don’t let other teachers tell me about my new students before I meet them. I don’t want other teachers opinions to prejudice my own. After I’ve met them I’m happy to get more info about the kids but I don’t want someone else’s opinion be my first impression

I was the kid who had no bed i slept on a floor while al my siblings had beds i had no food i had no toothpaste or toothbrush if i was sick it was suck it up and shut up if my siblings did wrong i got beat
