ok so, before I start chatting, I’m not straying you away from Islam or anything I’m just sharing my experience, but before I became agnostic, I would spiral ānd have mental breakdowns wondering if god even existed, if heaven existed, ānd I remember reading some stuff in the Quran that wouldn’t align with my views ānd I felt horrible, I would look for answers for my questions but when someone answered it was the same old stuff that didn’t even answer my actual question. It was like they were jst saying ā whole load of nothing. Islam has been an identity to me, not just a religion. My family, my friends, even my country was based in Islam, ānd the more I thought of leaving Islam the more I was scared. I thought that if I left Islam ānd then died I would be sent to hell. The more I questioned, the more it felt like I was in a hole— ā never ending one, I just would have more questions to the answers I was given so I left. I realised, that if hell was keeping me in the religion then I’m just being fear mongered. Another realisation I found was that I was only Muslim becus everyone else around me was and that I was using Islam to cope. I would neglect my daily needs. I was depressed. I didn’t even have energy to brush my teeth, but I thought that nothing matters, I just need to go to heaven. I’m not saying that this is problem with Islam but ā me problem, jst hoping u find my experience relatable. I know this numbness feels like it’s forever, but it’s not.
