@sewingwithfirewelding: Stick Rod sizes. There are a few less common sizes we don’t always get to weld with. I am showing a bunch of different size E7018’s. Anywhere from 1/16"-1/4". Very big range in sizes. #welding #stickwelding #weldingschool #weldernation #trades
is this a good weld for only welding three times, its MIG

Power range is the fraction “size” turned to a decimal. 1/8 =0.125 as a starting range.

Rod thickness in decimals X length in feet X 1000. So E7018 standard rod. (.125 X 1 X 1000=125)

I’ve been a stick welder for 30 years and that was the first time I heard of a1/16 rod, I’ve burnt a few 1/4 inch rods in my day and they throw some heat!

To be honest, I’ve never seen a quarter inch 7018 rod

squig :
take the fraction size turn it into a decimal number , works pretty good , example 1/8 rod diameter = .125 so 125 amps works for flat welding starting point
