People describe it as force because functionally, what are the options? Ok a straight woman accepts that her rejection of bisexual men is homophobic, but what happens after that? The expectation is that after the lecture, when they are approached by a bisexual man, instead of rejecting them, they ignore how they feel and date him. The only desired outcome of this conversation is that these women date these men. Men they do not want to date and would struggle to be attracted to. It’s much easier for most people to just date who they’re attracted to without needing to justify it. Sure, people reject bisexuals because of homophobia, and this is true; but what does the biphobic woman do with that information? Feel guilty? Develop an attraction to a minority they’re unlikely to date? Ok you win the argument, but what are people asking for if not that women date men they aren’t attracted to who do not accept them?? As a black trans woman, it’s just never felt useful to call rejection bigotry because even if that’s true, you can’t really make people feel bad for not being attracted to you.

the thing that really makes me upset is because they won’t even TRYYYYYYYYY TO dig deep into why they think a certain way😂 it’s just “ I don’t have to explain, it’s my boundaries” “I don’t need to explain myself”. It absolutely is. Any reason they give, it 9/10 ties right back into homophobia, but folks don't like being confronted about that — ESPECIALLY if they're ones that view themselves as an "ally." Prejudice isn't preference.
