My mom is so much like this, so I literally force her to repeat back what I said. I'll say it twice after her initial "What? What are you doing/where you going?" and after the second repeat, I'll go "Now repeat back what I just said. NO no, you heard me twice now, you know the details. Repeat it or I'm moving on with he conversation." And if she doesn't and jumps to questions to make me repeat myself, I'll literally just leave or talk about something else. This LITERALLY makes her force herself to focus on what I'm saying. Works beautifully!!
