@zevinclark: Forgiveness is not the same as restored access. You can release the anger, let go of the need for revenge, and still require evidence before someone is allowed back into the same position in your life. Because when betrayal is followed by immediate forgiveness, full access, and no consequence, the lesson may not be “I hurt them.” The lesson may become, “I can do this and still keep everything.” Forgiveness can happen in your heart. Trust has to be rebuilt through behavior. Forgiveness without consequence can become permission.
