I love teaching people how to knit!! I hosted a lil knitting workshop with my friends. I help people cast on at campus fibre arts circles (where I am often the only knitter). it rocks

i teach kids how to knit but when it's like 10kids it's so hard because you cant have that 1-1 straightaway but I love learning any new instructions that make things maybe easier

I volunteer for an organization that teaches knitting in the community, and we usually have yarn already cast on and a handful of rows done in garter stitch. The first row is generally hard for anyone to knit so we just kind of skip that and focus on the knit stitch. Then they also have an idea of what their work should look like as they practice after we leave 😊

THANK YOU! I am seriously so tired of hot takes. They just perpetuate bringing other people and what they like down in the community.

ppl talk about how scary the craftsnark subreddit ecosystem is but genuinely I do think the bitcheatingcrafters sub is a FAR better outlet for “here’s something happening/that ppl are doing that annoys me” bc at least it’s self aware and also NOT OVERTAKING THE GENERAL KNITTING ECOSYSTEM

love this!! learning something new can be so vulnerable, I think the key thing I’ve learned when teaching is to just be patient and emphasize that there are NO STUPID QUESTIONS !!!!

I have also been teaching knitting for free out in the community for years! Our styles are so similar! Recently Ive actually started skipping the slip knot and cast-on and starting them with the knit stitch itself. I’ve noticed teaching cast-on is actually easier after the knit stitch. I also always give them the rhyme and repeat it as I work and then as they work. I also feel strongly that it’s important to get them on what they want to make ASAP. I talk a lot about wabi sabi and the beauty in imperfection.

I’m left handed - I knit continental and teach other lefties the same. It allows you to use your left hand more, but still have access to knitting resources and patterns which are very hard to find for left handed knitting

Completely not the point of this video but your accent is really throwing me! Do you I hear a bit of British underneath the American?

The last time I tried to teach someone how to make a slipknot, I got so confused I FORGOT how to make a slipknot. I’ve been crocheting and knitting for 20 years 😂 this is very handy, thank you!

I’ve been trying to host either local craft meet ups or local classes but it is not going well. I would love to teach crochet or knit and share crafts.

I taught my mom to knit, and no offense to her (she’s a perfect angel and fully aware that she is a ✨difficult student✨), but if I can teach her then surely I can teach anybody. I’ve also hosted a couple classes at my work’s craft club, but those were tough because they were via webcam instead of in person and I couldn’t see what anyone else was doing
