@sacramentourbanmedia916: A Georgia community is searching for answers after a 75-year-old grandmother was shot while handing out baked goods to people in need, leaving her hospitalized with a bullet still lodged in her back. Dorothy Gordon was at a Chevron gas station in East Point around 9 a.m. Wednesday, distributing homemade treats to members of the community, when gunfire suddenly rang out, police said. At first, witnesses believed Gordon had simply collapsed. It wasn’t until first responders arrived that they realized she had been struck by a bullet in the back. She was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she remains under medical care. Authorities said doctors have not yet removed the bullet. Investigators say the shooter fled the area immediately after the shooting. Despite multiple people being nearby at the time, no arrests have been made, no suspects have been identified, and investigators have not determined what led to the gunfire. Police have also not said whether Gordon was intentionally targeted or caught in the crossfire. Her family says the attack is especially devastating because Gordon is known for regularly giving back to others. “They were cowards,” her son, Justin Gordon, told Fox 5 Atlanta. “To shoot somebody and then run away—that’s a coward move.” Relatives said Gordon frequently spends her time helping people in need, making Wednesday’s shooting all the more difficult to comprehend. East Point police say they are actively investigating the case and following every available lead. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest, and tipsters can remain anonymous. The shooting has left neighbors stunned that a woman known for acts of kindness became the victim of a violent crime. As Gordon continues recovering in the hospital, her family hopes someone with information will come forward and help investigators identify those responsible.#fyp #viral
