Her family reported her as a runaway. and provided the police with David’s information. Celeste would return home only to runaway again. At some point they took her phone away in attempts to cut communication, her mom even decided to sleep in her bedroom to keep a closer watch, but she eventually snuck out again. Sadly, to never return

All my teen years I was constantly sneaking out and leaving for days. I would get grounded then do it again. They took everything but I still found ways. Now as a mother of teens, when my daughter was 14 she ran away for two days. I did search knock door to door, and called the cops while trying to still be there for my younger kids. It was torture but she did come home. There's only so much one can do, but if the teen wants to leave they will. I've been on both side of it and it's crazy how there's no empathy for the parents! People don't know their lives, we weren't in the home! The real blame is David for taking her life!!!!

Guys her passing away IS her parents being held accountable. Maybe they weren’t the best parents but they’re probably feeling all the guilt right now from it. No family deserves this.

I don’t think people realize Celeste was reported missing multiple times… I don’t think they realize to the extent what was going on people don’t realize how different it is for immigrants in this country

he bought her phones and provided ALL her transportation!!! her parents had absolutely no control over their communication bc DAVID made sure of that. thank you for speaking up for them, it’s genuinely so much more meaningful to the family than you realize

Celeste was obviously being manipulated by David. Her parents couldn’t stop her because of the stuff he was doing and saying to her. She probably felt cool because she was messing with someone who was older & a singer.

i do think that they should also be held accountable for not having stricter standards for her. they are not the ones who did the horrible vile things to celeste but if they kept track of her they could have probably avoided this whole horrid situation

Two things can b true they can be sad that their daughter is gone and also b held accountable to a certain degree for not being active parents yes david is the monster ppl see but the lack of parenting is a factor n not acknowledging that part is dangerous cus if not then it will just happen again

My big sister used to run away ALL of the time to be with an older boyfriend. My parents tried everything they could and she would literally leave out of a window at night. They also had to make sure me and my big brothers were taken care of at the same time. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Sad. I hope the family and Celeste get justice 💛

As someone who had a sister that ran away as a minor with a adult there’s absolutely no way you can get her to come back. We called the cops and when she got out of juvenile detention she ran away with him twice…. Years later she js came bk at 23, but I seen someone say he gave them money so they didn’t pay it no mind.

It might be guilt, babes…. I feel for them as a parent myself, but they may have been dismissive of her dating life. As a Latina, Latinos tend to be very dismissive of age gap dating.

I ran away a couple times at her age and I got my a$$ handed to me and cops called each time. I didn’t even run away with an adult man to another state/country. this should’ve been handled WAY more seriously by her family point blank period. David is at fault but the lack of urgency in her parents is wildly confusing and helped to keep her in that situation.
