@makalaham: I feel like teens should take a course in school where they have to experience how different generations grew up. Or maybe it should be a game/reality show or something. #raisingteens #millennialmom #motherhood
I’ll always take negotiations! Sometimes they are right.

My teen can speak her mind, but keep it cute. This how we teach them to speak up for themselves…but again keep it cute.

See one thing I have to give our parents is that they made us stay in a child’s place. They may have over did it but we knew how to show respect. All this speak your mind and let the child be free is the reason why these kids think they can speak to adults any type of way including teachers. Children need structure and discipline and as a generation, I believe we failed at that including myself.

I was wondering why all my son’s teachers were commenting on how polite he is. It was literally the first thing out of their mouths. I see now that it’s because it’s no longer common 😩

That respect definitely came with a healthy amount of fear, because my momma was not playing!

Bcus they was throwin our heads between the washer and dryer 😩😩😩😂😂😂 I have a 20yr old daughter and when I try to talk to her I feel like I gotta find the right everything just to not “hurt her feelings” or “trigger” her. I don’t understand these kids now a days specially when you’ve been a supportive parent

We have failed them as well…some parents are scared to parent because they don’t want to treat their kids the way they were treated…but we didn’t act like any of these kids

I don’t mind my kids saying how they feel & I may sometimes try to see it they way, but at the end of the day, they gone do EXACTLY what I say & that’s it.

We always say "You can be mad, but you can't be mean". And I will often repeat back the same things to them if they try telling me what they said isn't mean. It generally works.

Always told my kids, "You can say whatever, but keep it respectful. The second youre disrespectful youve ceased making your point and now we're focused on the disrespect. So tread carefully!"

Didn't get it thru my head until that unexpected crack to the mouth. Mom told me, she talked to me about it, she offered advice and wisdom I simply didn't take.... And then... Well... I understood very abruptly what she tried so hard to teach me gently.
