@sam.forstag: When we disinvest from our public lands and public services, we all pay the price. We saw a 38% decrease in fire mitigation work nationwide last year. A 63% decrease here in Montana. That leaves our communities less prepared for disaster and our firefighters worse equipped. Our wildland firefighters are trained to deal with crises, but a purely crisis response approach to forest management means we all pay more, less money stays in the community, and all of us sucking more smoke come August. It’s time our country reinvests in public lands and public service. In Congress, I’ll fight for fully staffed public lands agencies, and expanded investments in forest management and fire mitigation. That means making sure our land management agencies are equipped to thin in the front country, returning healthy fire to the landscape in the shoulder seasons, and making sure we have the local scientists we need to allow for responsible timber harvest where it makes sense. What’s more, investing up front in our public lands creates good-paying jobs in our gateway communities right here at home, and it saves us all money on the back end. Whether it’s forest management or healthcare - the most expensive time to solve a problem is when we let it become an emergency. Let’s start fighting these fires before they’re burning. You can find more about the policies I’m fighting for, and how to join the fight, at SamForMontana.com

My dad worked for the forest service his whole career, started with the hot shots and finished supervising the smoke jumpers out of missoula. He would be so saddened and disgusted with whats happening. (Passed away about 10 years ago). You have my support, we need people in WA who know what needs to be done here in MT & all of the north west.

okay I just have a chainsaw a question do you push it in to sharpen and then drag it back out lightly without actually pulling it or do you pull it and back and forth with pressure to sharpen I may be having a brain fart cuz I've used a chainsaw a lot but I thought I'd ask

The Backcountry Horsemen work with the Forest Service in clearing trails in the forests. DOGE cut the FS personnel that supported that effort as well.

My mother is one of the only remaining employees of the DNRC (Dept. of Natural Resources and Conservation) in Montana, and she’s only an assistant..🙃The damage that DOGE has done will take YEARS to recover from… they can barely do any work at all because of how much this administration has completely F*CKED their department.. and we still have 2 years left of this BS

haha coming from a 4th generation Montana family of loggers and ranchers, I’d never get behind this idea. Maybe if those organizations you mentioned had the leaders on fighting fire they did 50 years ago but not today.

Wildfire smoke put my oldest son in the hospital for 3 days right as he was ganna start school and EVERY year since. My son is also autistic so it was just one thing on top of each-other. We teach indigenous history in this state by LAW we need to Practice what we teach and Prevent wildfires and death of animals and children
