The whole bearing set is a smart choice. like yeah he could have done the cheaper replacement but he is future proofing imo never go cheap on repairs you'll pay twice

If you put your bearing splitter in the press 90 degrees from where you had it it won’t flex and you won’t put pressure on the bolts
