I don’t feel like notion ui is clean or really intuitive. Maybe that’s my use case, but I feel like many useful options were hidden, took way too many clicks and looking around to find and use or just wrongly named (or the icon didn’t match what I needed, despite that option being that).

Both, it shows it all at first, but folds itself down after a couple seconds, preferably you can also change after how long, or if you even need to manually close it, and it lets you edit the route from right there, using either drop pins or it zooms into the selected turn and then lets you tap where you actually wanna turn

If I'm driving somewhere I've never been I want to know the next turn, and the turn after that. And I want the next turn known to me including which lane I need to he in to make that turn with LOTS of notice, and regular reminders. What I'm saying is, the rules of progressive disclosure as they are commonly applied really just take the rules of just in time economics and try to apply it to a UI for some reason as if options are a commodity. No, you shouldn't show ten thousand possible options all at once. Yes, choice paralysis is a thing and finding a desired option amongst a sea of of options is difficult. But in that same vein you don't want to overly limit the users options or wait until the last moment to surface a limited set. I cannot tell you how many times I have abandoned software that was too restrictive on the options it surfaces. A good UX should get the software out of the way of itself and put the user firmly in charge.
