First of all, it was an allegation, not a conviction. People settle civil cases all the time to avoid years of court, legal fees, stress, and constant media attention. They might have settled because they wanted to avoid a long legal battle, the costs of litigation, and the distraction it would've caused to his career. At the time, he was one of the biggest athletes in the world, so avoiding nonstop public drama makes sense regardless of whether you think he's guilty or not. And for everyone saying, "He admitted it!!" ...that's not an established fact. That claim comes from leaked documents that Ronaldo's legal team says were obtained illegally and that parts were altered or fabricated. Since there's a dispute over those documents, you can't honestly say the alleged confession has been proven. Like, if someone accused you of something you said you didn't do, and your name was being dragged everywhere, would you really want to spend years in court, or would you rather settle and move on with your life? Settling a case is not the same thing as admitting guilt. People settle lawsuits for all kinds of reasons, and a settlement by itself doesn't prove what happened.
