To be fair, it's easier to animate 151 Pokémon than it is 1000+. To be fair as well, it's not like they were introduced in batches of a few hundred and Pokémon wasn't the single most lucrative franchise whose games are made on comparatively tiny budgets....

Listen I'm down for dunking on Nintendo at every valid opportunity, but this specific comparison is bad. Pokemon Stadium had like 40 usable pokemon each with 4 hard set moves so like 160 different animations needed to be designed, compared to now where there are over a thousand pokemon that can learn up to like 40 or 50 moves so you'd have to make like 40 or 50 thousand different animations. Not saying they cant and should do better but I am saying this specific argument is dumb. Even if you go up to i think it was Coliseum where it had full Gen 1 and Gen 2 rosters the move pools were very limited compared to now and still thats like a little over 200 dudes compared to the 1000+ now
