I think about this with the Atlantis movie. Everyone involved with the expedition is pretty much spelled out to be unhinged dangerous mercenaries, but for the first two acts they're OUR unhinged dangerous mercenaries and you don't think about them as what they just told you they were

There’s a split second shot near the beginning of The Odyssey that out of context, you wouldn’t even notice as out of place. Then when you see it reappear later in the movie it is zoomed out revealing the true nature of what is happening. It’s such a good reveal. I caught it when I saw it for the second time yesterday.
