How did “Pavel” end up becoming “Paul” in school? I’m French, we’re not exactly known for our language skills, and even we know how to pronounce Pavel. How hard can that be? 🙄🙄

If he felt that strongly about his name he wouldn’t have changed it. I think he experienced trauma and bullying , probably xenophobia because he had a foreign name. Having a Anglo name opens doors and he doesn’t have to overly explain his origins

Dla mnie to przykre zmieniać swoją tożsamość niejako, bo ludzie nie potrafią jej poprawnie wymawiać? To niech się postarają. Przez to wyzbył się niejako siebie, przez to większość osób nie wie że jest Polakiem. Może był to specjalny zamiar aby lepiej wkręcić się w towarzystwo natomiast uważam przykre to. Zmieniać to kim się urodziło i jak zostało się nazwanym w ojczystym języku przodków

I get that your last name is hard to pronounce, but with a little bit of effort you can learn it. But why Paul, Pawel isn’t a difficult name. But maybe it’s because I work with a lot of people from all over the world, and I try as best as I can to pronounce every name the correct way. Some take a little bit longer to learn. I also work with a Polish guy named Pawel.
