@stuarmcf9c5: My dog's dental tartar dragged on until it turned into severe kidney failure. By the late stage, he completely couldn't hold on. Early on, the tartar just looked like yellow teeth and bad breath — I didn't take it seriously and never stuck with dental cleaning care. The bacteria traveled through the bloodstream and damaged his kidneys; by the time it was discovered, it was already too late. At first he just didn't want to eat, drank more water, and had no energy. I only thought it was the hot, dry weather — I never connected it to a major kidney problem, nor did I do oral care in time to protect his kidneys. The first pet hospital already advised euthanasia. I couldn't accept it, so I switched to another hospital and tried everything to save him. He barely held on for a day, but his condition kept deteriorating. On one hand I couldn't bear to let him go, on the other I couldn't stand watching him suffer continuously — my heart ached so much. If you have a fur baby at home, you must clean their teeth regularly. Don't ignore dental tartar — oral problems really can trigger fatal kidney failure.
