The best way to survive the fallout is to close all air holes with two walls between you and the fallout, taping all the holes with thick tape. The best room to hide in is the bathroom that is located in the middle of the house with no windows. All ventilation holes should be taped shut. You only need to survive for 3 days in there. No physical activity should be done. Otherwise, you will suffocate because of the lack of oxygen. You only need to gather 3 days' worth of food.
