We did the 35 day Caribbean cruise, decided against the drink package, over 3 grand, probably spent at least that, but we could choose whatever drinks we wanted. Coke was £4.20 a bottle, on the package you only get tap, which is not great. It was our first time on P&O, and probably our last. NCL free at sea is so much better, also the entertainment is less hi de hi.

We did P&O earlier this year and without a package the 2 of us spent around £300 over 2 weeks in drinks like wine and beer. Going on Ambassador soon and got the drinks package at half price so we have taken that. Next cruise is Fred Olsen and wine / beer / soft drinks are included either meals so we are not buying the drinks package. As you said, when you have a package you tend to drink more than if you do not.

how the hell can you drink that much in a week??? bananas if you ask me went on a two week cruise, I had all the drinks I wanted to have payg and it was maybe 300, my partner does not drink alcohol so would never make sense. also why do people buy water? the ship water is fine

I did the fjords 2 years ago on Iona with my husband we went pay as you go as I didn't find it worth it. (We aren't big drinkers) We are going again with our 2 kids next June and with the free refresh package for kids and the WiFi it's deffo going to be worth it for us this time. I think it depends on your circumstances. x

Also it was great not having to make coffee in the room or carry around water flasks, this made it more of a holiday vibe for me 🥰
