Well there’s your problem… a flat… another common mistake is buying a new build… the second it’s no longer a “new unlived in” home you lose 5-20% of the value… buying at peak market cycles too isn’t a great plan! Buy LAND (with a house on :p), buy in cycle dips… and don’t look to upsize until your investment portfolio is built up big!

It depends on the flat we bought a flat in a small place Victorian building from 1800 so no cladding. Only 3 other flats so it meant it was easy to do right to manage and take over so we are in charge of the service charge. You only need 50% of flats to agree to do that so you can manage yourself no expensive service fees which is hard when you buy a flat with too many flats. I do agree a flat can be a liability if it’s the wrong place but for use is been a stepping stone. Our neighbour just sold and had no problem selling.

That is what we did as well! Waited until we found a perfect home for us. It was tempting to have deposit money ready and to be used to buy flat/2 bed home but instead we waited and found a home in a growing community and couldnt be happier now ❤️
