I’m a woman. One of my dearest friends, a man, died on Christmas Day a couple of years ago. We worked together and chatted all day. We mostly talked about shows we both liked like Star Trek and The Simpsons. We never complained about our marriages and it was entirely platonic.

I think men and women can absolutely be friends. But once romantic feelings become consistent and deeply felt, it's no longer a friendship, but it's a love relationship. Emotionally healthy people usually recognize that distinction instead of blurring the boundaries. When those boundaries become blurred, that's often when people get deeply hurt.

What’s in a name :
I have male friends without having romantic intimacy. I have wondered if boundaries can be blurred more according to their attachment style. I have secure attachment and I’m aware of my boundaries and values.
