just for some context, i booked this 2 night stay at a traditional 'Ryokan' after being told this would be a real immersive experience of japan. from the minute we arrived, the experience was SO different to any normal hotel (there was no reception to begin with). shoes off straight away, taken to room and we discussed which time we would like breakfast / dinner. we were picked up at 7pm SHARP (no earlier, no later) for dinner and taken to our own private dining room. here we experienced a 9 course omakase dinner which was divine. the same process for breakfast, however we were given the option of japanese style / western style. our dining room was surrounded by 400 year old gardens. we will never forget how quiet and how peaceful the whole thing was and would do it again in a heartbeat. we didn't even meet a single guest staying there as everything was so organised (almost as if they didn't want us to mingle with other guests, who knows!). the most beautiful stay and would recommend this experience to anyone visiting japan xxx 📍kinjohro, kanazawa #japan #yogurtbowl #retreat #hotel
