Can someone explain why this is needed? I have a 4000 sqft house and a bunch of data ports but I just connect all my TVs to wifi and it never lags.

People are putting in cat 8 ?? Are there devices that support cat 8. I’d probably do 7 at this point. I wish I did more access points and main hard lines!!

Any access point locations, do CAT6a or CAT8. For door, cameras, windows, etc you can do regular CAT6. Always and I mean ALWAYS use plenum grade and run pairs to each location if you can, even if you only plan to use 1. Personally I run CAT6a because if I’m buying 5k’, the cost difference is minor and gives me freedom for longer runs. Also to connect to other switches on the other side of the home CAT6a can deliver a 10gb signal more reliably. CAT6a plenum grade people!!!

ive been watching so many of your videos but I dont know if you've touched on insulation yet. I was going to go foam exterior walls and rock wool interior walls but ive been hearing so many scary things about foam such as how you can have leaks for months without realizing it and accessing anything like plumbing or electric is difficult. sorry these wires made me think of it. I wondered what your research has shown you.

cat6 has to small of a distance before dropoff. use cat5e so you can run lenths over 100 feet without dropoff.

Don't forget running extra Cat6a if you're doing a media closet because you can get an HDMI to Cat6a converter to run from your closet to the TV.

Yeah, if you want the best peak Internet in your new custom home get CAT8 ethernet cable, which I believe holds 40 GB and it’s currently peak fiber Internet holds GBs so you’re good for a very long time and for the Wi-Fi and access points get Wi-Fi 7 and you’ll never have a problem with traffic with too many devices and risk slowing down your Internet

I do not understand why in 2026 we are still framing a house with all wood vs High strength Galvanized steel framing to avoid wildfires, mold, and termites so the home will last much longer over the years and save on the annual insurance cost?
