I told my male partner about a creepy guy at the gym that had followed me around the space, literally sat doing nothing on a machine next to me and just watched me complete three sets, stared at me etc etc. Common experience unfortunately, no biggie, I dealt with it. Anyway when I told my partner his reaction was sympathy for the guy. Bless him, he was probably just nervous and didn’t know what to say bla bla bla 🥱 I told my mum, her automatic response was exactly what you’d expect, immediately ask if I was okay, did I feel safe, did I recognise him, how was I feeling now… it really highlighted an empathy gap between me and my partner I haven’t been able to shake

My mom once told me “you don’t have to unfold your reputation as a good man because The girlies talk about your actions and they know who you are” and that changed how I see it.

Completely incorrect good men do debate women on their live experiences because what said and what’s often actually happened or two different things so in order to understand whether this is truth or not you need to kind of trickle it down through debate supporting women to some degree is important. I mean, women are one of the most supportive groups that exist currently but you have to know what you’re supporting. You can’t just go in without critically thinking, which is where the debate tactics in the questions come in. anyone who does that it’s not actually on your side because there’s no substance to just taking every word you say at face value. Yeah, well there’s no such thing as toxic masculinity there are masculine men who are toxic, but then you would have to get into semantics because details and semantics are very very important. What makes them toxic, but you wouldn’t want someone to ask those questions because then you would be in a bit of a debate. With a high likelihood of your ideas and thoughts of what is toxic being destroyed because a lot of times it’s clearly not toxic. It’s actually the opposite. You cannot be a good ally to others until you know the details de clarifications, the definitions, the understandings of why you feel the way you feel. Then you get into facts which facts don’t care about your feelings and those are issues that most women tend to have. Just because you feel something doesn’t make it true and those who truly care about women moving forward and men moving forward together you have to know details in order to support it. Otherwise you’re just a virtue signal who has zero clue as to what they are actually supporting and that’s a problematic mindset for just about everything in life critical thinking is crucial.
