@natgeography.com: The police who were called were at a loss for what to do. A bewildered bear had climbed to the top of an electrical pole and was stuck there. The police waited for it to come down, but the bear didn't. It was semi-conscious, constantly making noises while waiting. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish specifically stated that if people hadn’t stopped and crowded around to film him, he probably would have gotten down on his own. Bears are easily spooked by humans, and the crowd just trapped him up there out of fear.
