@maddexairline1: #fyp #trending #panam #clipperendeavor On April 11, 1952 64 passengers and five crew members boarded Pan Am flight 526A a flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico to New York Idlewild Airport sadly the flight never arrived, the aircraft a Douglas, DC-4 named clipper endeavor suffered an engine failure and had to be ditched in rough seas nine minutes after takeoff 11 mi NW of San Juan Airport. Though the plane remained largely intact, 52 of the 69 passengers and crew drowned because there were no pre-flight safety demonstrations, leaving passengers unaware of how to properly evacuate or use flotation devices. This tragedy prompted the Civil Aeronautics Board to introduce sweeping aviation reforms, making preflight safety briefings mandatory. But the wreck of clipper endeavor was never found until now. 74 years after the crash of flight 526A the Air/Sea Heritage Foundation in partnership with the Discovery Channel found the wreckage on June 2, 2026. This is some of the most exciting news an aircraft that has been missing for several years has finally been found.#PanAm
