This is the LEAST selfish decision you could make. You don’t want to lose him, so a decision to let him go and give him peace is 100% the most loving selfless gift you could give him. This doesn’t make this decision any easier, but please never let anyone make you feel guilt over this choice. So much love to you and Simon. ❤️

In home Euthanasia is a wonderful gift at the right time. Simon will be comfortable that a nice stranger has come to give him extra scritches and then he will just start feeling sleepy. Far less stressful than in a veterinary office.

In Mexican culture, we have something called “dia de los muertos” and there is a special day for pets. They get put on the same altar as the family, get all of their favorite things & then best part… we just celebrate the love they gave us, the life they lived. This time is for celebration but, grief is still there. We love you, Jacob and Simon. Hoping his transition is peaceful.

Take this from someone who had a soul dog with congestive heart failure- vet told us we could wait a little longer to put him down and against my better judgement I didnt put him down. One night, while nursing my newborn, he began to seize and went into cardiac arrest in my arms. It was clearly painful, scary, and as he passed, I yelled how much I loved him in hopes that he would hear me. I rushed him to the ER, but he was gone before I even got to my car. I am still traumatized years later, he deserved a peaceful death and I will never forgive myself for not allowing him that dignity. You’re making the best choice for your baby.
